“The Long Hair” has received a Telly Award in the category of “General—Non-Broadcast,” an honor bestowed to recognize excellence in documentary filmmaking. “The Long Hair” took silver in the category, which continues a streak of recognition that includes our win as best short documentary at the Garden State International Film Festival this spring.
“The Long Hair” is a short documentary that introduces viewers to LeRoy Pendleton, the last independent barber operating in North Dakota. Pendleton, now in his 80s, continues to cut hair day to day, operating his small barber shop as he competes with larger operations.
More than showcasing how a small business operates in a time of major corporate consolidation, “The Long Hair” is a quiet requiem for a lost way of life— when people had more time to sit and chat with their barber rather than immediately running to their next activity.
Producers David Kuznicki, Brian Katona and Eric Althoff are thrilled by the recognition, which comes from industry experts and veterans and our fellow filmmakers. We look forward to showing “The Long Hair” in more places very soon.
